California Golden Violet

DESCRIPTION: {native} This lovely little yellow violet has five petals fused into a tube that pouches out underneath. The back side of the two top petals are reddish-brown, and the three bottom petals have dark vein markings. It's basal leaves are hairy spatula shaped with wavy margins.

HABITAT:Grasslands below 2,500' .

NOTES: In early April we found only one clump of California Golden Violets. A few weeks later we did find a few more plants and we're hoping they will re-seed themselves.
