Seep-spring Monkeyflower
Mimulus guttatus

[MIM-yoo-lus guh-TAY-tus]

FAMILY: Scrophulariaceae (Snapdragon)

DESCRIPTION: {native} This is a 'typical' monkeyflower configuration, with five petals united into a 2-lipped tube with two petals up and three petals down. In this case, the lower middle petal is lobed confusing things a bit. The hairy throat and paired stamen are also typical of many in this genera.

HABITAT: Along the edges of springs and creeks.

NOTES: The flower patch on the right got flooded for a couple of days in a late runoff and rebounded happier than ever.
