DESCRIPTION: {native} Small member of the poppy family. Grows to about 6 inches tall with a single yellow, 4 petaled flower about an inch across with many stamens.

HABITAT: Open grassland in the foothills.

NOTES: Quite striking when growing in dense communities. Flowers close up in the evening, and open after the sun is up. May not open at all on overcast days.
