DESCRIPTION: {native} This Clarkia is an easy one to identify, with it's large purple spot in the upper center of each of its four petals which form a 3/4" bowl. It has erect buds, and up to 1 1/4" alternate lanceolate leaves with small stipules.

HABITAT: Open, grassy or shrubby places under 5,000'.

NOTES: California boasts forty or more Clarkia species. So far, we have three.
